How to Transfer license plates while selling a vehicle?
Q. I am selling my car to a person from a different state and I want to know how to handle the license plates for the vehicle. 1. Should I remove my license plate before I hand over the vehicle 2. If the buyer does not have a license plate that he can use, does the buyer provide a temporary license plate or the seller, and from which state? 3. Can I use my license plate on another vehicle that I have?

I live in maine and have completed hours required to obtain a license, however I had to get my permit re-enstated due to the fact it expired on the day of the test. I now have new permit and for the time being I need a "work" (drivers) license to get me to and from work. I was told about this license by a fellow employee. I am a full time chef at a restaraunt and I need this really soon cause being driven isn't working out. I'm over 18 have completed hours required and am safe driver with clean record, any help will be appreciated.

It seems like if you are licensed for a larger plane then anything smaller would be ok also, but not sure. Alternately, could you license an ultralight as a sport plane or regular plane. I'm not serving food or alcohol, but there are 4 self serve kegs that are free with paid admission.

A. It depends entirely on which state you live in. Some states require a license to which you add an endorsement - others do not. Some states require a training course, others do not. Different states have different rules for their permits. Some are good for a year, mine was 30 days. Even within a state, the rules can get a little funky. Here, you can get a permit and then a license. No course required. To take the Beginner's Riding Course at DMV, you must have a valid driver's license.

Q. I recently moved out of state and need to switch my drivers license. According to the state DMV a current, valid license is needed or a copy of my driving record. Well, I just happened to notice that my license expired the beginning of January. I'm in a bit of panic since I have to take time off from work to go to the DMV and I don't want to waste my time if they're just going to turn me away. Oh, they also said that I don't have to take a test as long as the license hasn't been expired for over a year. So can anyone give me their opinion on what I should expect?

A. You are suspended in every state in the US, and every province in Canada. There is no "technically" about it. You cannot get a licence until the conditions of the suspension are fulfilled. Actually, you also cannot get a licence in South Korea, Japan, Switzerland, Britain, Belgium, the UK, and a few other countries.

A. It depends on whether you move to Tennessee, or just attend school there. If you are actually moving, then yes, you'll need to get a new driver's license within a month or so. As far as I know, every state in the US requires this. However, if you're in the military, or a dependent of the military, or attending an out of state school, and you keep your permanent address in your old state (Nebraska, in your case), then your license will be valid in Tennessee. However, you MUST familiarize yourself with Tennessee traffic laws! Ignorance of the law is not a defense! How do I get my license back after suspension because of truancy?
Q. This year I had a problem with truancy because I have migranes. I didn't go to school at all and the DMV took away my license yesterday. I tried going to votech but didn't go either. I dropped out of highschool and will start GED classes soon...but I am not getting a straight answer on when I will get my license back. I need it now. Will I possibly qualify for a hardship license since I really need it to go to work? Or is there some kind of appeal or fine I can pay to get in reinstated? They first told me I would have to attend the GED classes for 6 weeks straight. No problem. But now I am hearing I will have to complete the course and wait till JULY for it back. I have responsibilities and I need a way to get it back. If you have any… [cont.]

What to do when you loose your driving license and you don't even have the number with you?
Q. I lost my driving license recently. I have a photocopy of the same but the driving license number part is not visible now. It was from Punjab and now I am staying in Karnataka. What can I do about it? I do have my original Learner's license with me though it is very old. I tried getting my record from Punjab RTO but they needed license number.

I have no idea what common practice for accepting checks is in Punjab or Karnataka but in the U.S. whenever we write a check to purchase something most retailers write our drivers' license number on the front of the check. At the end of the month we receive those cancelled checks back from the bank with our statement. Hope this helps.
