An auction is a process of buying and selling goods or services by offering them up for bid, taking bids, and then selling the item to the higest bidder. In economic theory, an auction may refer to any mechanism or set of trading rules for exchange. There are several variations on the basic auction form, including time limits, minimum or maximum limits on bid prices, and special rules for determining the winning bidder(s) and sale price(s). Participants in an auction may or may not know the identities or actions of other participants. Depending on the auction, bidders may participate in person or remotely through a variety of means, including telephone and the internet. The seller usually pays a commission to the auctioneer or auction company based on a percentage of the final sale price. From Wikipedia under the

From Google News Search: "Auctions" How do I find home government sales/auctions in my area? Q. I saw this informercial about buying houses in government tax sales/auctions, but how do you find them. Apparently the previous owner foreclosed and did not pay property tax, so the gov't then sells the house in an auction. But where are these so-called auctions? Asked by deployedbride - Sun Apr 8 10:19:28 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. I use publicnoticeads.com It is a free service from participating newspapers. If it does not cover your area, search your local newspapers online for tax sales. They are required to be published. You can also talk to your county Sheriff and they can tell you when and where the tax sales take place as well as the foreclosure auctions. A word of caution, despite what the infomercials say, tax sales are not a good place for the beginning investor. The tax sale process is a difficult one and the properties are redeemed most of the time. That means you go through the entire process and in return you usually get your initial investment plus a small amount of interest - often 8%. Not a bad return but if you were planning to flip the… [cont.] Answered by Ken - Sun Apr 8 12:20:10 2007 How much do dealers save at those huge auto auctions? Q. How much below blue book value (on average) do used vehicles go for at those huge dealer auctions? I'm thinking about buying some land and starting a new career as an used auto dealer.. Any insight from dealers would be appreciated! Asked by o - Tue Jan 1 17:50:32 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. The old adage you get what you pay for?? Same is true at auto auctions. Auto auctions for dealers are just like buying a car anywhere. I love when a customer tells me they "know someone in the business" that will take them to auction and tell them they should go they will probably get a great deal ;) Fact of the matter is many buyers from the dealer ships are guys that have been on the biz 20+ years. Say you find the elusive "cream puff" that grandma kept in the garage and is 5 years old and only has 10k miles. The price gets bid way up and it becomes a case of who is going to sell it for the least amount of profit. A car like this more than likely would run like a champ. Being in Florida if we had price may be above KBB on the lot as… [cont.] Answered by vumenjimi - Tue Jan 1 22:48:06 2008 Where can I sell a brand new iPod nano without having to auction it off on Yahoo! Q. I don't have a credit card so I can't verify my account on Yahoo! Auctions so is there any other way to sell off a brand new iPod nano? Are there shops that will buy this kind of stuff? Asked by snowysam_thy - Mon Oct 15 13:34:36 2007 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments A. The only answer that I can give you is you should sell it in the newspaper. Online auctions pretty much need your information. Your newspaper should have free adds so try there. Answered by lwdierlam - Mon Oct 15 13:37:51 2007 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Auctions" |
