An auction is a process of buying and selling goods or services by offering them up for bid, taking bids, and then selling the item to the highest bidder. In economic theory, an auction may refer to any mechanism or set of trading rules for exchange. There are several variations on the basic auction form, including time limits, minimum or maximum limits on bid prices, and special rules for determining the winning bidder(s) and sale price(s). Participants in an auction may or may not know the identities or actions of other participants. Depending on the auction, bidders may participate in person or remotely through a variety of means, including telephone and the internet. The seller usually pays a commission to the auctioneer or auction company based on a percentage of the final sale price. From Wikipedia under the

From Google News Search: "Auctions" What are some online auctions other than ebay? Q. We have an eBay store called norstarmuzik where we sell guitars. But there are getting to be some complications with ebay. Is there a other good site that allows both auctions, Buy-It-Now, and a store ( like 30 days or more listings)? Thanks! Asked by shgadwa - Sat Nov 17 16:28:05 2007 - - 2 Answers - 1 Comments A. Yeah there is, there is, ebid.com just type that in, or search ebid and it''ll find it for you, they have a bunch of sites for various countries, they do buy it now, and allow you to promote to your online shop, unlike e bay, plus they charge a lot less, i think it is in fact free listings, fo about $8 per month membership or something, they have a bulk upload facility as well. You can use the paypal payment route, and they also allow you to apply Google checkout, which is worthwhile, as it is a growing choice of buyers, who object to the big brother attitude of Paypal But the thing is with other auction sites, they don't get the traffic that e bay gets, still you can list an item, until it sells for instance, and it isn't going to… [cont.] Answered by JON O - Sat Nov 17 16:43:50 2007 What is the average price to buy a horse from the auctions? Q. I am wanting to save a horse from the auctions,How much is the average price? Please if you could help that would be wanderful! :) Please i really need help Asked by Allison - Sat Jul 3 22:53:36 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. The price you pay at auction depends where you are located, the quality of the horse, and whether someone else there also really wants that particular horse. You can pick up a horse that's not sound to ride or has issues for a few hundred usually. If you want a sound and sane riding horse, expect to usually pay close to what you would on the private market for that horse. There are others there also looking for good riding horses, and "kill" buyers usually aren't going to bid once the price goes past a couple hundred or so. If you want to "save" a horse from slaughter, you're usually going to end up with a horse that's not sound, has medical issues, or has behavioral issues unless you are in an area where there is very poor demand… [cont.] Answered by oregano13 - Sat Jul 3 23:25:54 2010 How can I find about Business and School auctions?
Q. How can I find about Business and School auctions in my area. I hear that those school lunch tables sell cheap! Asked by Dan93 - Sun Jul 8 14:24:08 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. I always keep an eye in Supermarkets on the Community Boards. (these boards are great sources of bargains both public and private) Also a well placed call to the school's and town hall's will never hurt, even if it is twice a year. Your right a lot of School Committees will have "bargain basement" pricing because it is much easier to make $5 than pay someone $5 to remove it to a landfill. I hope this helps.
