From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A Dutch auction is a type of auction where the auctioneer begins with a high asking price which is lowered until some participant is willing to accept the auctioneer's price, or a predetermined reserve price (the seller's minimum acceptable price) is reached. The winning participant pays the last announced price. This is also known as a "clock auction" or an open-outcry descending-price auction. This type of auction is convenient when it is important to auction goods quickly, since a sale never requires more than one bid. Theoretically, the bidding strategy and results of this auction are equivalent to those in a sealed first-price auction. The Dutch auction is named for its use in the Dutch Tulip Craze. GNU Free Documentation License Which eBay auction selling technique is best? Dutch auction or multiple listings? Q. With the current fee system on ebay, is it better to do a multiple quantity auction (dutch), or actually list many separate auctions with a quantity of 1? I am having trouble understanding the fees, but it doesn't seem like multiple separate auctions would cost much more, and you get the benefit of extra real estate/exosure within the item listings. I'm selling items that cost $40. Asked by cordaroysoriginals - Thu Feb 21 21:02:21 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. I tried dutch a few times and it didn't work. List several, sell maybe 1 or 2 at a too low price. Go for fixed price listings. Or, open a shop and then have auctions with a link to your shop listing for the same item to allow buyers to BIN. The article: "Thirty five companies are qualified to bid on foreign oil contracts with Iraq starting next week, the Wall Street Journal reports. The government decided to auction off foreign oil contracts in an attempt to boost up its war torn economy. The auction is taking place for the first time since Iraq nationalized its oil industry more than 30 years ago. From my perspective, the invasion of Iraq was for two primary reasons: 1. to remove a regime that was hostile to the New World Order. Many Middle Eastern governments do not want to play ball with the globalists. Iran is next, and then maybe Syria. 2. To steal Iraq's oil for the big oil companies. The Iraqi Oil Bill was written by the Bush Administration and forced on the new Iraqi government. It provides for the majority of Iraq's oil being transferred to the big oil companies.
