An auction is a process of buying and selling goods or services by offering them up for bid, taking bids, and then selling the item to the highest bidder. In economic theory, an auction may refer to any mechanism or set of trading rules for exchange. There are several variations on the basic auction form, including time limits, minimum or maximum limits on bid prices, and special rules for determining the winning bidder(s) and sale price(s). Participants in an auction may or may not know the identities or actions of other participants. Depending on the auction, bidders may participate in person or remotely through a variety of means, including telephone and the internet. The seller usually pays a commission to the auctioneer or auction company based on a percentage of the final sale price. From Wikipedia under the

Ebay normally takes something like a 9% final value fee and I think paypal takes 3%-4% of whatever goes into your paypal account. How do they handle penny auctions? Do you get like 0.4 cents or how does that work? Asked by Chicagodudeman Chicago - Sun May 23 23:08:31 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Hi, try this calculator, I often use it to sell feedbacks on penny auctions. (old fees calculator before May 2010) To get 4 cents profit after eBay and Paypal (old)fees, your item sale price should be $0.44 (44 cents). (New fees calculator) To get 4 cents profit after eBay and Paypal (new) fees, your item sale price should be $0.39 (44 cents). Good luck. Please, no pay listings--I know this information is public but the sites that charge for lists of auctions do a good job of blocking anyone from posting such a list. Q. I am interested in looking at some foreclosed houses and seeing the auctions. Dos anyone know where I can find a free list of foreclosure homes with open house and auction dates. I have looked around for ever and have not found any comprehensive lists. Asked by Tim H - Wed Apr 16 05:32:10 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. The reason it's hard to find a list is because foreclosures are different in every state and every county. What you can do is contact your county courthouse and ask them about the foreclosure auctions. If they don't have the information they should be able to point you in the right direction. Also, in most cases, there are no open houses. Answered by REI Auctions - Thu Apr 17 09:20:51 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Auctions" From Wikiquote under the GNU Free Documentation License.
